The character selected from the series Euphoria is Rue Bennet, a 17-year-old girl that is currently a high school senior. Rue is biracial, although she has grown up in what appears to be a completely white world. The death of her dad, which occurred while she was 14 years had a significant impact on her mentally, such that she began engaging in drug abuse. Specifically, the misuse of opiates started with her dad’s sickness while she was 13 and has since been persistent. Rue eventually overdosed and was taken to rehab. However, she had no intention to stay clean and, as a result, continued to use and lie to her family about the relapse. Rue has been diagnosed with depression, ADHD, anxiety and also possible bipolar. She usually turns to drugs to numb the grief and pains she feels.

Intervention Plan

Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) can best address the mental difficulties that Rue experiences and substance misuse. REBT holds that people have flawed beliefs about involved situations, and these situations cause disturbances. REBT approach to the ABC framework will enable Rue to realize that it is not the death of her father that causes their dysfunctional reactions but her irrational belief. Thus, she is in control of how she can respond to adversity as these have autonomy over their beliefs. She needs to vividly imagine her father’s death and experience the intense grief feelings to evolve healthy emotions out of it. As for her homework, I would help her realize situations where she is more likely to use substances to cope with her feelings.

Obstacle

The challenge that may impede the intervention is requiring Rue to face the irrational thought pattern that arose following the sickness and death of her father. It can be challenging for her to accept these behaviors and feelings as unhealthy. Changing them possesses even more challenging as they have been held for a long time.

Transitioning from one stage to another is a mixed bag of emotions as it can be exciting, frightening, and confusing all at the same time. Moving from high school to college or work is an adventure in and of itself. Since there is no right way to do it, I decided to take time to explore and experiment while also learning about myself and the world around me. As a result, I took a gap year after completing high school in 2015 to focus on myself and gain insight into what I wanted to do. Specifically, the gap year impacted my life positively as it allowed me to develop life and professional skills and think about the course or university I wanted to attend.

I have had an interest in business since I was a child, which impacted my decision to search for a job in a business-related field during my gap year. However, it is tough to decide on a major and pick a career path all at once. It took me a year of research after high school to choose a path in the business world before joining GT Medical Company in 2016, where I have worked as an administrative assistant for more than five years. This time allowed me to think about my strengths and passions and interact with people already working. Working at GT Medical Company has given me ample time to research and consult on different majors in business. My mentor at the company has also reinforced my decision to pursue economics due to its potential in the future.

Currently, I know that pursuing economics is right for me as it will allow me to leverage the skills that I have developed while working at this company. For instance, I consider myself a good problem solver due to the solid logical reasoning skills and teamwork that I have gained and done through the various tasks I have done over the years. The Revolution ensued between 1765 and 1783 and was an epic military and political struggle of the Americans against Britain’s colonial rule. The Stamp Act

The British Parliament approved this legislation, which levied a direct tax on the colonies in America. This was an extremely volatile act as it made it mandatory for all American citizens to pay a considerable amount of tax to use British government Stamps in the country. The Coercive Act

This Act entailed four legislations imposed by the British Parliament to punish Massachusetts Bay for defying the British during the Boston Tea Party rebellion. The American colonists were angry and frustrated by the British for imposing taxation with no representation (Bailyn, 2017). As a result, they dumped 342 tea chests set into the harbor. The British wanted to punish the Massachusetts laborers to teach all other states under British colonial rule the impact of raising any protest.

These two were among the most inhumane acts that the British government implemented against the Americans, infuriating them. The Americans were thus justified in initiating the American Revolution as it freed them from British tyranny.
