One of the most important aspects of safety is ensuring our equipment is properly prepared and we are familiar Political Science Assignment Help I believe that the characteristic that makes a good op-ed piece is when the writer introduces the subject strongly but should I think they should avoid being to biased in their piece or expressing too much emotion. Knowing facts about your topic is very important when you are trying to express why your subject matters are what makes a strong opinion piece, such as using clear language so it is easy for your audience to understand.
The first article that I read was the New York Times article “We Have Reached Peak ‘Mental Health” written by Huw Green who is a doctor. What I liked about the piece was that Green brought up the subject that there are people who make the statement “we all have mental health”. He says in the article “It fails to actually name any mental health problems — those about which we ought to be raising awareness — and it also makes a claim that is sadly untrue; there are many people who, at least some of the time, do not have mental health.” What I liked about the article is that he talks about how he had patients who were struggling with mental health to show how mental health is more than just a thing people say they struggle with.
The second article that I read was also from the New York Times “Mental Health Is Political” written by Danielle Carr. Carr mentions in the article how Covid-19 pandemic has effect people in the United States. What I like about the article is that he uses facts to state how covid affected people’s mental health. He says in the article ” To take two of the most common diagnoses, a study published in 2021 in The Lancet estimated that the pandemic had caused an additional 53.2 million cases of major depressive disorder and 76.2 million cases of anxiety disorder globally.
The third article that I read was another New York Times article which was “Why Is There Still No Strategy To Defeat Trump” written by David Brooks. What I did not like about the article was that it was too political. I am not really into politics, so for me it was too political. What I did like about the article was that he mentions the struggle of what it is like being a black man or woman trying to vote. He says in the article “Even though the criminal justice system disproportionately affects Black men, and many of the more high-profile killings by the police have been of Black men, a Pew Research Center poll released last month revealed that fewer Black men than Black women believe that police brutality is an extremely big problem for Black people.” He goes to then say that reason why black men and women don’t vote is that Democrats are ignoring the interest of Black men.

Running head: NURSING RESEARCH ON PATIENT OUTCOMES AND QUALITY IN USA
The impact of nursing research on patient outcomes and quality of care in the United States
Name of Student
Nursing research is a study that basically provides evidence that can be used in supporting nursing practices. Today, so many nurses have become researchers, performing standard research by reviewing previous findings as they observe patients, organizing, and overseeing the clinical practices that involve new-fangled medications and treatment methods. The nursing practice focuses on the use of evidence obtained from research to justify nursing interventions. Nurses are the major consumers of nursing research, and this is important because the implementation of evidence-based nursing practice promotes ideal nursing care. The care that is given to the patients within a particular health care setting is directly impacted by nursing research information. The question posed “what is the role of research in nursing” as a broad topic, and “the role of research in nursing” as a narrow topic has got no major outstanding differences, but it is worth noting that, unlike the later, the first has an extensive scope.
Thesis: The essay focus on the impact of nursing research in improving quality care and patient outcome in the United States.
Body (Paragraph and Supporting Points)
2. Paragraph 1. Research plays some roles in the nursing practice. It is through research that nurses can identify the most effective and best practices that can improve patient care, (Moule et al., 2016).
The field of nursing is coupled with numerous information that keeps coming to light, (Cherry, & Jacob, 2016). It is,therefore, very important for the nurses to understand the benefits of research and the need for them to conduct it.
The findings gotten from the reviewed literature helps in correcting the longstanding misunderstandings, brings about new treatment protocols and generate new methodology, and all these improves the patient outcome, (Ellis, 2018).
3. Paragraph 2. According to Holloway, and Galvin, (2016), research paves the way for changes within the healthcare environment, patient populations, as well as the government protocols.
The discoveries made bring about the changes necessary for the nursing practice. Unlike, other careers, a nursing career is very complex (Papastavrouet al, 2016). For instance, the information learned by student-nurses today can be outdated in two years. The research, therefore, helps the students, or the nurses in practice to know and to keep up with the new developments that would be beneficial to their long-term career.
Papastavrouet al., (2016) argue that nurses get to benefit richly from understanding the role nursing research plays, how research is conducted and how research enlightens patient care.
Paragraph 3. Research is used by nurses to provide evidence-based care that helps in promoting quality health outcomes for persons, families, societies, and healthcare systems (Moule, 2015).
For example, a research on children’s congenital heart disease has been helpful to the nursing fraternity as it enables the nurses to give better care for parents, so that they can be able to adjust volume settings or quickly be able to give an explanation into how the alarm settings are projected to measure the adult oxygen levels.
Blažunet al. (2015) argue that nursing research is used by the nurses to shape health policy in direct care. This can be at the organizational level, local level, state level, or federal level. The nurses in practice can conduct research, use the same research in enlightening patients and fellow nurses, and also to teach about research at different levels, (Christmals, & Gross, 2017).
Paragraph 4. Another important role of research in nursing, according to Tappen (2016), is that it promotes lifelong professional development of the nursing career.
The nursing research supports the facts that nursing, on its own, is a professional career. Nursing knowledge and clinical expertise are improved basically, through comprehensive nursing research(Manojlovich, & Ketefian,2016).
Nursing research also helps in the implementation of changes that are capable of providing excellence in nursing care, as well as in locating additional resources (Grove, & Gray, 2018).
Paragraph 5. Research enables the health care gives to conscientiously and explicitly utilize the current best evidence to make decisions with regards to giving care to individual patients, (Masters, 2018).
The evidence in this case is only obtained through a systematic investigation, (Ironside, 2015). Therefore, when it comes to the delivery of care, nurses are supposed to use their expertise and the most suitable available evidence.
Fain (2017) asserts that expertise and evidence are not enough, rather, the patient’s condition, rights, and predilections should also be put into consideration when deciding on the patient’s treatment.
Paragraph 6.Boswell, & Cannon (2018) adds that nursing practices are improved through the gaining of new knowledge and understanding of what is more operative. The duo further argues that the customs and traditions have been improved through the experts’ opinions, observations, and the experience of trial and error method and most importantly, through the extensive research conducted in the modern health care sector.
Intraditional societies, people strongly believed that certain behaviors would have certain consequences, (Boswell& Cannon, 2018). For instance, the women who gave care during those times would encourage the sick to drink plenty of water and try to do something, simply because, they believed that the sick recover faster when they do something, rather than doing nothing. During those times, the trial and error method was the most common method, and it somehow worked. However, this has been replaced with the most effective way of generating knowledge and applying it scientifically, and that is, through research, (Boswell, & Cannon, 2018).
8. Paragraph 7. Many a times, nurses might have wondered and asked themselves questions concerning particular cases. These questions are the motivation for nursing research, it is what pushes the nurses to conduct the research, so that they may obtain the answers to their questions, (Borbasi, & Jackson,2015).
The answers for the questions can be gotten only through research. Therefore, this becomes the opportunity for the nurses to conduct inclusive research. The research process can begin by reviewing the current evidence-based practice, evaluating the evidence censoriously and then deciding on the best research type for the circumstance in question (Smith, & Liehr, 2018).The duo argues that this process of ordinary inquiry is the base for evidence-based practices and also the commencement of the research process.
Paragraph 8. According to Kaakinenet al. (2018), nursing research should be exhaustive. This is because, an exhaustive, or rigorous nursing research provides a frame of knowledge that promotes the advanced nursing practice.
The findings obtained from such scientific inquiry also contributes to and shapes global health care systems. Butcher et al., (2018) urge nurses to be very realistic and as accurate as possible while conducting research, because, the research they conduct always has lasting impacts on people’s lives because they are devoted to the health and well-being of everybody.
In conclusion, nursing is a wide-ranging career. Nurses work almost everywhere; in classrooms, businesses, hospitals, laboratories, community health departments, and home health care, among others. Regardless of where a nurse works, research applies in the same manner. It is therefore prudent to put a major focus on nursing research. Nursing research gives the nurses the opportunity of becoming the patients’ advocates as they provide the best findings, enabling the nurses to comprehend how to best take care of different situations and circumstances at hand.
