The purpose of this paper is to recognize, define, research and utilize the concepts that underscores my personal nursing philosophy for professional nursing practice. This paper also discusses the four metaparadigms of nursing with reference to professional practice.
I believe this about nursing, it is not just a profession, but merging of passionate and holistic care. My desire to become a nurse sprouted when I went for a mission trip to a Leprosy Hospital near my home town in India. There was still a social stigma against leprosy and so called “Leprosy Sanatorium” was isolated from the rest of the world with a huge wall. I remember carrying a bag of clothes collected by my mother for the patients there. I was deeply touched by the smile and gratitude patients showed to the nurses caring for them and cleaning their wounds. That is when I decided that I want to become a nurse. Another reason for my decision to become a nurse is my brother, who is also a nurse. His experiences and stories from hospital inspired me and made me realize that nursing is truly for me. I joined one of the prestigious Universities in India for my BSN through merit and scholarship and I graduated at the top of my class. After graduation, I worked in various acute care settings and also as a clinical instructor in India.
I came to the United States on a dependent visa in 2006. I challenged Registered Nurse licensure exam and passed it in first attempt. Impressed by my

I have chosen to discuss the effects of anxiety and depression on transgendered people. For this paper I am using Transgender to mean: “ a term used to describe people whose gender identity differs from the sex the doctor marked on their birth certificate.” (Gladd.org)
What inspired me to research this social issue is with modern media individuals such as Caitlyn Jenner and television shows such as Orange is the New Black; we are learning more about Transgender. Another inspiration came from my internship. My current internship is working with True Colors, which offers sexual minority and family services. I have already been in contact with someone who is transgendered during my time as an intern. She has talked to me about some of the issues she faces as a Trans woman such as finding a university that will accept her as a woman.
I wanted to learn more about Trans-people and discovered many people who are trans tend to suffer from depression, anxiety or both. There have been some studies done that show there is a greater chance that someone who is transgendered will have a higher chance of developing one of the disorders I have mentioned. The first article I located was titled: Social Support, Trans Community Connectedness, and Mental Health Symptoms Among Transgender and Gender Nonconforming Adults. The Article focuses on how people who are in the trans and non-gender conforming community are subjected to Transphobia and Discrimination, and because of this

Because of what they are subjected to the people of this community are at a higher risk to certain mental illnesses such as depression and anxiety. This is an important area to discuss, because mental health goes hand and hand with life satisfaction. Another article I found, to see the link between anxiety and depression in trans people was titled: Anxiety and depression in

Applicability to Nursing The research will focuses on problem significance to nursing because there are many nurses suffering from work related anxiety and depression, especially floor nurses, due to different types of stressful and overwhelming situation. In this condition, the music therapy allows people to better express their emotions and reflect on their inner feelings (“Music as medicine,” n.d.). This research would contribute to nursing knowledge. It is very important for nurses to have knowledge about effectiveness of music in order to reduce their anxiety and depression levels. Any stressful and overwhelming situation can create the anxiety and put the individual at the risk of depression. Nurses, particularly, floor nurses always deal with many different kinds of patients and different types of responsibilities, such as administrating medications, setting up IVs or IV pumps, informing the patient about his/her condition and diagnosis, providing patient education and emotional support, maintaining and updating patient medical records, etc. All of those overwhelming responsibilities can put the floor nurses in the risk of anxiety and depression. The Theory Of Interpersonal Relationship ap history essay help
The theory of interpersonal relationship was formulated by Hildegard Peplau in 1952, and in 1968. The Hildegard Peplau worked as a psychiatric nurse and she believed that Harry Stack Sullivan’s interpersonal theory of psychiatry held many clues for advanced nursing practice. Peplau defined nursing as “a service for people that enhances healing and health by methods that are humanistic and primarily non – invasive” (Fitzpatrick & Whall, 2005, p.48). Peplau defined the phases of the nurse- patient relationship, the nurse’s role during their professional engagement with patients, health, the healthy person, and the environment. Effective communication is important in patient care. Peplau’s theory still considered communication as a basic concept because it influences the patient’s thinking, which influences his or her behavior. Peplau used prototaxic, parataxic, and syntaxic modes of experiencing, initially proposed by Sullivan to describe the person. She explained that by using these modes, a mature person can meet his or her needs and can is able to reduce the anxiety. The behavioral activities of a person are based upon their interpersonal nature. Peplau’s description of environment include the presence of caring adults, secure economics status of the family, and a healthy prenatal environment, and she presented the interpersonal situation as an environmental microcosm within which health is promoted (Fitzpatrick &Whall, 2005). “ Peplau’s theory considered health and illness
