Discussion On Diplomatic Dialogue Research Essay Help

tragically in sight, the historian recounts the preceding diplomatic dialogue between the Athenian envoys and the Melian council.11 The principles of political action that find articulation in this argumenta tive showdown are worth a detailed look.
9 I here follow in the footsteps of Kiechle 1963:289-90, 295-298; Immerwahr 1973:18 20; French 1980:26-29; Rengakos 1984; Allison 1989:4-5, 133-134; Kallet-Marx 1993:205 206; Gehrke 1993:14-18; Ober 1998:61-67. For Thucydides’ terminology for power, see Bar-Hen 1975; for the significance of wealth in Thucydides’ conception of power, Kallet Marx 1993 and Kallet 2001.
10 For the position of the Melian dialogue in Thucydides’ narrative, see de Romilly 1963:273-310; Pouncy 1980:93-104; Rengakos 1984:93-102; Crane 1998:237-257; Kallet 2001:9-20; for the historical context, esp. the debate on neutrality, Bauslaugh 1991:142 146.
11 As Kallet 2001:17 points out, the historian on purpose obscured the “not-insignifi cant” power of Melos and the rather large-scale siege of the island.

In their opening gambit, the Athenians insist that the only standard by which to judge political action is the law of the jungle. The powerful exact what they can, while the weak yield what they must. ‘Justice/ on the other hand, is a mere rhetorical construct that comes in useful
for the rhetorical embellishment of a compromise reached in a stale mate of power. Given these axioms, the Athenians expect that neither party will resort to argumentative irrelevancies in the present dispute. They themselves will not appeal to their achievements against the Persians or argue that they have been injured; and the Melians should not adduce their kinship with Sparta or the fact that they have done the Athenians no harm. Any such move would simply be a hypocritical ploy, designed to conceal the ‘real’ motives.12

Discussion on raw power write essay help

Cultural Differences and Cross-Cultural Contact 181
term ‘power’ is fairly wide and comprehensive, German distinguishes sharply between ‘raw power’ (Macht) and ‘institutionalized rule’ (Herrschaft). Since everyday English thus blurs a conceptual distinction that will be crucial for my argument, let me briefly elaborate on the two terms.
The classic definition of Macht and Herrschaft (as well as their rela tion) is that of Max Weber. Power in the sense of Macht he defines as
“the potential of someone to exert his will over someone else despite resistance, regardless of the basis on which this potential rests…. The concept of power is sociologically amorphous. All conceivable quali ties of a person and all conceivable combinations of circumstances may
put someone in a position to impose his will in a given situation.”4 The
purest exercise of power is therefore the threat, or application, of phys ical violence, the pistol to the head as it were. In contrast, the existence
and exercise of Herrschaft presupposes a socio-political configuration of a certain regularity, beyond the level of sheer compulsion. To capture the fact that a socio-political order may involve the voluntary accep tance of the status quo by those who are not in power, Weber employs the notion of legitimacy.5 Herrschaft, in brief, is accepted and legiti mized Macht.6
Weber’s definitions reflect the intense debates on ‘power’ in modern
times. The emerging social sciences, especially since the turn of the century, have striven hard to develop a descriptive notion of power, elevating power into the central category for the classification of polit ical and social systems. Their premise is that every political order and social configuration can be described in terms of power-relations. Both
4 Weber 1972:28-29 (author’s translation). 5 Weber 1972:28-29,122-124. 6 As noted by Parsons in Weber 1947:152n83, there is no satisfactory English equiva
lent for Weber’s term Herrschaft. Parsons originally opted for “imperative control,” using “authority” as a more specific translation of legitime Herrschaft. Later, the term “domina tion” was used, still alternating with “authority,” while some translators decided to use “authority” only. See Roth’s comments in Weber 1968:61-62. The use of two different translations suggests that neither word catches the nuances of the original. “Rule” is offered here as a possible compromise, more formal than “authority” (which, more over, in a work on ancient society would create confusing interferences with the Roman concept of auctoritas) and less oppressive than “domination.” For an introductory discus sion of Weber’s terminology in English, see Bendix 1960:294-300.

Discussion on Indonesian state essay help tips

nient basis for their holy book. It was submitted to the Indonesian State in 1970. Ten years later, after a decade of tough negotiations, the Kaharingan religion of the Dayak was finally recognized as a denomi nation of Dharma-Hinduism.2 Ironically, the writings of a Christian missionary had led to the creation of a new religion. Needless to say, the religion of the Dayak, too, had changed in the process of being fixed in and as scripture.
I have chosen this anecdote from the annals of religious history because it helps to illuminate the complex and unpredictable effects of cross-cultural contacts. Artifacts that travel from one culture to
another, whether from Europe to Borneo or from ancient Greece to Rome, are bound to generate unforeseen ripples and repercussions in their new environment. They also change their own meaning in the process.3 In this paper I want to explore the conditions and conse quences of acculturation with reference to a specific test case: Greek thought on power and its reception in Rome, within the larger process of ‘hellenization’ that Roman society underwent in the second and first
centuries BCE. Arguably, the Greek conception of power was as impor tant for the transformation of Rome’s socio-political order as the book
of missionary Sch?rer for the evolution of Dayak religion.
Power, however, is an entity slightly more elusive than an ethno graphic text. Its semantics are difficult to define, partly because of its stellar career in modern political thought. By the 19th century at the latest, the concept had become the preferred lens for the observation
and description of political configurations. Its popularity resulted in a
wide range of associations and applications. The proliferation in usage rendered the meaning of the term diffuse in the extreme. Views on power varied widely. Some glorified power; others condemned it. Some perceived it as necessary and therefore good; for others, power was evil incarnate. In addition to the various brands of normative verdicts,
conspicuous differences in terminology and usage exist across modern
European languages. For instance, whereas the scope of the English

3 Redfield, Linton, and Herskovits 1936 offers a basic framework for the analysis of cross-cultural contact (or ‘acculturation’). It is, however, in need of modification and adjustment for the study of historical societies. See Gotter 2000:373-406.

From the scenario, examine the impact of immigration on the need for post-Reconstruction period legislators to create policies. Provide at least two (2) reasons why white politicians saw other minority groups as a threat and acted to limit their freedoms. Provide a rationale for your response

RESPOND PEER POST:

White politicians saw other minority groups as a threat and acted to limit their freedoms. During the Reconstruction era, blacks constituted absolute majorities of the populations in Mississippi and South Carolina equal to the white population in Louisiana, and represented more than 40% of the population in four other former Confederate states. Southern whites, fearing black domination, resisted the Freedmen’s exercise of political power.  In 1867, black men voted for the first time. By the 1868, Texas, Mississippi, and Virginia had still not been re-admitted to the Union. Radical Republican Civil War General Ulysses S. Grant was elected president thanks to 700,000 black voters. In February 1870, the Fifteenth Amendment was ratified; it was designed to protect blacks’ right to vote from infringement by the states.

White supremacist paramilitary organizations, allied with Southern Democrats, used intimidation, violence and assassinations to repress blacks and prevent them from exercising their civil rights in elections from 1868 until the mid-1870s. The insurgent Ku Klux Klan (KKK) was formed in 1865 in Tennessee (as a backlash to defeat in the war) and quickly became a powerful secret vigilant group, with chapters across the South. The Klan initiated a campaign of intimidation directed against blacks and sympathetic whites. Their violence included vandalism and destruction of property, physical attacks and assassinations, and lynching’s. Teachers who came from the North to teach freedmen were sometimes attacked or intimidated as well. Under the Force Acts of 1870, the KKK was suppressed by federal prosecution.

Essay on the American Revolution essay help fairfaxFour parts all seperate ones
The long essay would be a traditional essay that is typically five paragraphs in length. The first paragraph should introduce the topic and state the student’s position / answer to the question. It should contain between three-five (3-5) complete sentences, including the thesis statement for the essay. The second, third, and fourth paragraphs are the body paragraphs. Each body paragraph should contain between three-five (3-5) sentences, including the topic sentence (first sentence of the body paragraph, states a main point that supports the thesis) and at least two-three (2-3) specific examples per main point. The fifth and final paragraph should begin with a restatement of the thesis. It should be three-five (3-5) complete sentences, and include a brief summary/conclusion of the student’s answer to the essay question. It is essential, particularly in the survey courses, for students to provide cites and footnotes for their work in untimed exams. Citations must adhere to the Chicago Style format but perfection is not expected. An example of common citations are included on pages four and five of this edition.
Part 1
What were the causes, both long term and immediate, of the American Revolution? Why did tensions between Great Britain and their North American colonies escalate so quickly in the wake of the French & Indian War? Do you believe American independence was inevitable? Why, why not?
Part2
Describe the origination, drafting, and ratification of the United States Constitution. Why did so many believe the Articles of Confederation needed to be replaced? What were the major compromises reached during the drafting of the Constitution, namely in terms of representation and slavery? Why did the Anti-Federalists oppose the Constitution? Finally, it was not long after the ratification of the Constitution before there developing two contending views/philosophies on how America should be governed. George Washington, John Adams, and Alexander Hamilton were leading Federalists, while Thomas Jefferson and James Madison were Democratic-Republicans. What were these competing views on government?
Part3
Less than seventy-five years after the ratification of the Constitution, the United States was at war with itself, for four long and brutal years. The road to the American Civil War was thus a relatively short one. During the years leading up to the outbreak of hostilities, the nation increasingly drifted apart along sectional lines. The root cause of all this division and sectional strife was slavery. What were the major events leading up to the Civil War? How were they related either directly or indirectly to slavery?
Part4
What were the major military, social, and political turning point moments of the American Civil War? Why did the Union ultimately prevail?

Academy of Management history essay helpthe range of seemingly disparate theoretical ex- planations by addressing why such theoretical accounts might differ.
Finally, in the course of developing theory, we underscore the importance of doing so with an appropriate level of granularity—one that will best illuminate its intended contributions. Spe- cifically, we recommend avoiding elaborate con- structions (especially in a paper’s introduction) that involve an array of choppy references to theories that are cobbled together primarily for the sake of demonstrating one’s knowledge of the field, rather than because those theories sub- stantively inform the phenomenon under inves- tigation. If such theoretical arguments do not substantively inform the intended contribution of the paper, attempts to discuss them should be limited to explaining why they are inadequate or beyond one’s own theory’s scope so they are less likely to distract from the paper’s contributions.
Likewise, we note that not all elaborations of a model are equally likely to make that model more insightful. Greater elaboration can, in some cases, certainly make a substantive difference, such as by explaining theoretical inconsistencies or contradictions. However, there are also cases where such elaborations (e.g., those motivated by efforts to add finer-grained detail for the sake of thoroughness) may do relatively little to increase insight into causal relationships that manage- ment scholars and practitioners may care about, and this may even hinder their ability to see the bigger picture or derive possible applications. Thus, the challenge is to develop theory with an appropriate degree of parsimony, in a manner that emphasizes the most important elements of the intended contribution without getting lost in unnecessary digression and detail. We believe this will allow better consideration of how theo- retical arguments may be integrated into a more coherent account of the phenomenon under investigation.
In conclusion, our claim that OB is overtheor- ized should not be taken as an endorsement of efforts to force-fit a single theory to explain a phenomenon, especially when that theory does not adequately account for the phenomenon’s complexity or when it stifles the development of other theoretical advances that can provide fur- ther insight. Instead, our intent is to highlight the need to consolidate the abundant and ever- growing range of theories in our field into broader and more coherent accounts of the important
phenomena we wish to explain. Such efforts not only will help OB scholars take better stock of where they stand with regard to their knowledge of a given phenomenon but also will help guide their subsequent theoretical and empirical in- vestigations of the topic. In contrast, neglecting this kind of theoretical integration poses the risk of increasingly overwhelming these areas of in- quiry with an ever-growing theoretical disarray that will deter scholars in our field from engag- ing with that literature. Thus, we raise this call for action to address these concerns in the hope that these kinds of efforts will ultimately help our field to better flourish.

Essay on the church in Western technology college essay help onlineFor this exam I would like you to develop and write  an essay between 600-750 words (may go longer). I would like you to pick a theme from the first 3 assigned chapters and develop that theme across the chapters into a cogent discussion essay. For example, you may choose to discuss the role of the church in Western technology. Or you may choose the role of commerce in advancing science, or medicine, or discoveries, or great men. Pick a topic that interests you. You may use outside course materials in constructing your essay.
Essay should include:
1.  Introduction – An overview of what you are going to discuss, argue, question.   The introdcuction should also suggest your expected conclusions.  This is where the reader (me) can get a sense of what is expected to follow.  You should include how the essay is going to flow.  The introduction can be brief, but it is critical for setting up the body of the essay.
2.  Body – This is where you develop the overview presented in the introduction.  Use specific evidence from text and videos to reference your points.  Be sure to properly cite your evidence in footnotes and/or parenthetic notes.  These citations should also be referenced at the end of the essay in sources.  The recommended style format is MLA (Modern Langauges Association) which you can access online.  The MLS stylesheet will give you examples of how to cite various sources.
3.  Conclusion –  A summary of your essay and closing comments.  This is where you tie the essay together and bring it to a convincing end.
4.  Sources – Sources are not counted in the essay word count.  You should list all and any sources you used in creating the essay, including course text and video.  Please refer to MLA style sheet for proper formatting.  A minimum of 3 sources is required.

Discussion on administrative tasks college admission essay help: college admission essay help
To further foster the transition and to change the focus of the
Roman Senate, Augustus also removed less than ideal members of
the Senate and reduced their numbers from 900 to 600 members.
Augustus greatly influenced the selection of the Senators and at-
tempted to blend the old optimates with the novus homo (new men) to
arrive at a balanced Senate that focused on administrative tasks ra-
ther than the pursuit of power through military means. Additional-
ly, Augustus established a court system in the Senate to try political
crimes and actively involved the Senators in the governorship of the
provinces. Augustus established the beginnings of a civil service sys-

tem with his personal staff and developed an executive committee
to deal with administrative tasks.41
While Augustus formally gave up the position of consul, he main-
tained an unprecedented amount of individual power on three
fronts. First, the Roman Senate awarded Augustus the lifetime pow-
ers of tribunicia potestas (tribune or representative of the tribe/people
power) that allowed Augustus to veto legislation, intervene/
overturn court verdicts and introduce legislation. Second, the power
of imperium proconsulare maius (greater ex-consul command authority)
allowed him to override the governors and the power allowed him
to assume command of the entire Roman army and all Roman terri-
tories. Finally, Augustus started the Praetorian Guard, which con-
sisted of nine cohorts (each cohort numbered approximately 480
men) and stationed them around Rome and in outlying cities in Ita-
ly, a police force of three cohorts in Rome and a fire watch of ap-
proximately 7,000 men. These three powers while not overtly con-
trary to the idea of a Roman Republic in the eyes of the general
population, allowed Augustus to centralize authority and establish a
Pax Romana with his control of the government and the nearby
veiled threat of a military under his personal control.42
The Roman Senate lost much of their power before Augustus
subtly refocused the role of Senate governance and decreased the
allure of power politics during the century leading up to the Caesar-
ean Civil Wars from 49-44 BC. By the time of the Caesarean Civil
Wars the Senate effectively lost control of the military as key indi-
viduals struggled for power. Political theorist Samuel P. Hunting-
ton’s discussion of conservative realism describes the key tenets that
the Senate failed to enforce. Huntington writes, “It holds that war is
the instrument of politics, that the military are the servants of the
statesman, and that civilian control is essential to military profes-
sionalism.”43 The professionalization of the military occurred be-

Assignment Description
For this assignment, you must do the following:

Locate and analyze a course, unit, or lesson found online. Be sure to include the Internet address of the selected content within your references for grading purposes.
Write a brief summary of the course, unit, or lesson, including the anticipated grade or content level.
Based on your own analysis of the content (do not duplicate something that may already be developed within the course, unit, or lesson), you will develop 5 terminal course objectives (TCOs) for the lesson using the ABCD (audience, behavior, conditions, degree) method of writing objectives. Specifically, the 5 must consist of the following:

3 cognitive objectives, 1 affective objective, and 1 psychomotor objective. At least 1 objective must be for a nontechnical capability in an area such as management, leadership, supervision, or human resources.
Be sure to use the cognitive taxonomy’s measurable verbs to specify the level of the cognitive objectives, and label the level after each objective. Label the affective and psychomotor objectives as well, using the standard affective domain levels as defined by David Krathwohl, et. al, and accepted psychomotor taxonomy by Elizabeth Simpson.
Take 1 of your objectives, and write 2 enabling objectives to help the learner reach the terminal course objective.

These objectives must be original and new. Do not use objectives from any previous class or any other source.
Prepare a conclusion that summarizes your decision-making process for selecting the verb and Bloom’s levels, your choice of objective to expand, and how enabling objectives support terminal course objectives.
Your paper will require an appropriate APA-formatted title page, abstract, running headings, and the use of body headings.
Please submit your assignment.
For assistance with your assignment, please use your text, Web resources, and all course materials.
Your assignment will be graded in accordance with the following criteria. Click here to view the grading rubric.

Self-Assessments Essay compare and contrast essay helpSelf-assessments are crucial in helping students to monitor their own academic progress and helping guide ownership of learning. As students are working through their self-assessments, the teacher can continuously engage students in their own progress and then adjust instruction in response to meet their learning needs. Along with the self-assessment, students need to know how they will be graded and how to monitor their progress, which is done through a rubric. A rubric is an assessment tool that provides student’s with clear expectations for their deliverable. The rubric scaffolds to show a clear distinction between categories in order to achieve the target learning goals for the student’s assignment deliverable.
Review the “Learning Plan Template” to complete this assignment.
Complete Part 3: Assessment Plan.
Part 1: Assessment Plan
After researching different assessment methods, build on your completed assignment from Topic 3 by completing “Part 3: Assessment Plan”. Use the learning objective and educational goal created in the previous topic and create a formative and summative assessment and aligning rubric for one student you have been working with in your field experience. The assessment and rubric should be grade-level appropriate and allow the student to self-assess his or her work and monitor the progress toward his or her long-term educational goal. The rubric should demonstrate expectations for the assessment deliverable. In addition, include any necessary modifications to show how you plan to differentiate your assessment to meet diverse learning needs.
This assessment will be implemented in Clinical Field Experience C in Topic 5.
Part 2: Reflection
In 250-500 words, write a reflection regarding the process of self-assessing.
Address the following questions:

How does this monitoring process help in tracking progress, assessing data, and identifying patterns and gaps in learning?
How does the process of sharing the rubric help to establish guidelines and routines with students for them to monitor and assess their own learning?
What other progress monitoring methods can be used to track data?
How do you prepare instruction for diverse learning needs and make accommodations to meet exceptional needs and learning language needs?
When addressing individual student needs, how is a private setting for instruction that considers student data confidentiality maintained?
How do you determine your approach to collaborate with colleagues in a proper and ethical manner?

Support your findings with a minimum of three scholarly resources.
Submit the “Learning Plan Template” with your reflection as one deliverable.
