Racism And Inequality
Abstract
Racism permeates all aspects of society, including institutions, social structures, and everyday life. Communities worldwide are thrown into chaos because of racism, which weakens democracy and diminishes government legitimacy. The afflicted population is denied human rights. Mickey Guyton’s song “Black Like Me” highlights the racism and biases she has seen throughout her life, both as a child and as a performer in Nashville. First, the “Black Like Me” lyrics about the artist being mocked on school grounds and her father’s “twice as hard” work to “live the good life,” are ripped from “things that I internalized as a little kid,” says Guyton. Her father used to start work early to secure his position and worked long hours to pay for his children to attend private school. And it is not just about Mickey dwelling on the past. She recognizes that “nothing has changed” due to the recent protests. In the song, Guyton acknowledges that for Black people, achieving the American Dream is particularly “hard” (Mickey Guyton). Her outlook on the issue is that her people “will all be free” one day, and she is glad to be black. Despite several constitutional measures designed to reduce racism and inequality in the United States, incidents of the latter continue to surface.
Dupree, Cydney H., and C. Malik Boykin. “Racial inequality in academia: Systemic origins, modern challenges, and policy recommendations.” Policy Insights from the Behavioral and Brain Sciences 8.1 (2021): 11-18. https://doi.org/10.11772372732220984183
The article demonstrates the importance of academics to society. According to the authors, educating the next generation of leaders and informing public policy starts with a diverse faculty. Scholars of color, according to the authors, typically abandon academia due to a lack of acceptance. Academic knowledge is less innovative and consequential because it is created and applied primarily to a small subset of humankind. According to the study and the recent protest movements, scholars of color are less likely to be recruited and retained in academia due to discrimination based on race.
Racism in academics has a systematic root. For a long time, academia has played an essential role in devaluing people of color. Stereotypes about the biological and cultural inferiority of African-Americans persist even now, in the twenty-first century. According to the authors’ strategy, present obstacles brought about by racial inequality, including many psychological and cognitive characteristics that undermine the ability of scholars of color to feel welcomed and valued, contribute to racial disparity inside academia. Stereotypes that portray racial minorities as inferior are still prevalent, even though they have become less explicit. According to the authors, scholars of color face subtle or purposeful signs that they do not belong in White academic environments.
The authors concluded that academia’s ability to train future leaders and tackle the world’s issues is diminished by its inability to perceive and fix racial injustice. Race inequality in academic institutions should be taken into account by policymakers if they want science that is cutting-edge, comprehensive, and applicable to a wide range of people. Dupree is well-versed in the subject matter as a Yale University lecturer and author focused on racial inequity issues in academia. At Brown University Providence, Boykin is a professor of history. I plan to use the authors’ work to examine racial disparities in academia.
Mesic, Aldina, et al. “The relationship between structural racism and black-white disparities in fatal police shootings at the state level.” Journal of the National Medical Association 110.2 (2018): 106-116. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.jnma.2017.12.002
Racism and discrepancies in police shootings of unarmed black people are examined as part of the study’s goal. Racism and its effects on interactions between law enforcement and black people are the threat idea, which is drawn from the conflict theory. There is a lack of adequate empirical studies in the public health publications to illustrate why black persons are more likely to be shot by police. The public health and social science research found a significant void in public health research regarding the root causes of racial inequalities in police shootings and validated schemes of structural racism. For this reason, a state-level investigation of deadly police shootings is preferable to a regional analysis because of the comparatively low incidence of fatal shootings.
Although the authors are aware of two earlier attempts to construct state-level measures of structural racism, both utilized the discrepancy among white and black people in structural measurements as a reference to structural racism. “Two previously validated indicators of structural racism, racial inequality in advantage and disadvantage and racial residential segregation were combined to create an overall state-level structural racism index to examine the influence of structural racism on the disparity in police shootings” (P. 113). The authors are well-known university lecturers who have published several publications in peer-reviewed journals. I aim to apply these theories to understand better how race and police shootings are linked.
Salter, Phia S., Glenn Adams, and Michael J. Perez. “Racism in the structure of everyday worlds: A cultural-psychological perspective.” Current Directions in Psychological Science 27.3 (2018): 150-155. https://doi.org/10.11770963721417724239
According to the article’s analysis of past cultural psychology studies and theories, a closer look at racism in the real world is required. There are several ways in which racism manifests itself in society, including individual biases and the advantages and disadvantages imprinted in cultural objects, ideological discourses, and institutional realities. Historical beliefs and cultural practices that perpetuate current racial inequities are highlighted in the authors’ review. Using a cultural-psychology paradigm, the authors developed three fundamental components of the psychology of racism. As a first component, racism is pervasive in people’s daily lives. Second, people sustain racialized contexts in their everyday actions through their preferences and picks. People’s cultural surroundings promote racially discriminatory ways of thinking and behavior. Rather than targeting individual characteristics, this approach aims to alter the mental frameworks that reflect and sustain systems of racial dominance.
The authors concur that psychological repercussions and causes of racism are often inferred from minority groups, even if racism is sometimes addressed in social-psychological research. Racism has played a critical role in determining which people and identities have been marginalized and dominant in the past, but the study obscures this fact. Conventional views of racism often attribute its origins to the thoughts, feelings, and actions of those harboring bias and prejudice. Racism is an individual-level phenomenon in Western, educated, industrialized, affluent, and democratic environments, where individualist ideas are prevalent. There are many ways racism is manifested in modern culture, and this article provides a comprehensive look at the various ways racism has been woven into everyday life.
The authors state that focus should be placed on identifying and removing cultural-psychological mechanisms that perpetuate individual bias in the first place. The first author, Salter, is a psychologist and brain sciences lecturer at Texas A&M University. He has written several other articles regarding racism. Adams is a lecturer of psychology at the University of Kansas, where he teaches a race and cross-cultural psychology course. Perez is a lecturer at Texas A&M University. I will use the writers’ concepts to learn more about how racism affects cross-cultural psychology in today’s society.
Sharkey, Patrick, et al. “The Gaps Between White and Black America, in Charts.” The New York Times, 19 June 2020, www.nytimes.com/interactive/2020/06/19/opinion/politics/opportunity-gaps-race-inequality.html. Accessed 1 July 2022.
According to the article, most white people have been able to isolate themselves in areas far apart from others who suffer from unemployment and poverty. According to the authors, black communities are typically major hubs of black culture, community, and political influence. Despite this social and economic strength, black people have not achieved the same level of investment as white areas, such as well-resourced schools and public service improvements. Discrimination in housing and loan policies, as well as harsh law enforcement, have all been used against African Americans.
Inequality in America is characterized by the fact that most of the country’s major socio-economic problems are centered in minority areas. According to the author’s review of black and white regions, these forms of inequality are most common. The authors further argue that white and black neighborhoods have different levels of inequality. Banks denied people of color who wanted to buy homes credit because of their race and by the strategic placement of interstate roads and public housing developments, all of which influenced racial segregation.
The authors argue that if black and white areas were given equal access to resources and political power, segregation would not result in such a wide disparity in wealth distribution. According to the authors, the United States suffers from national issues that take on quite varied forms in different parts of the country based on factors such as race, ethnicity, and income. Keeanga-Yamahtta Taylor is an assistant professor of African American studies at Princeton University and an author of opinion pieces for the New York Times and the Washington Post. Public policy and racial inequality, particularly in housing, are major themes in her research. Patrick Sharkey is a sociologist and criminologist. He has written about sociology and public affairs in his articles. Yaryna Serkez is a New York Times senior graphic editor. This article will help me assess the gap between marginalized communities and the white population.
United Nations. “Fight Racism.” United Nations, 5 Feb. 2021, www.un.org/en/fight-racism. Accessed 1 July 2022.
The article begins by quoting, “Every day, each and every one of us can stand up against racial prejudice and disrespectful attitudes. Let’s build a world beyond racism and discrimination, where we all exercise our human rights.” Racism is a global problem that requires a global response. Throughout the publication, the author urges readers to speak out against racism whenever they see it. Racism harms the lives of people subjected to it and the rest of society. It creates distrust among people and rips the social fabric apart.
Furthermore, racism affects employment, education, healthcare, housing, food, and water. The UN claims that there are numerous ways to make classrooms and other learning environments welcoming places. Both culture and personality can influence interpersonal styles. According to the author, educators should include as much cultural diversity as possible in their lessons to help students better understand and appreciate one another.
Discrimination and prejudice against people of African descent are common, whether they are direct descendants of those who perished in the transatlantic slave trade or recent immigrants. Several factors contribute to African-Americans being among the most underserved in society, including the legacy of enslavement and colonialism and racial bias in law enforcement and community. Multiple, aggravating, compounding, or overlapping types of discrimination based on other relevant grounds, such as age, sex, language, and religion, can be experienced by victims of racial discrimination. Anti-discrimination and anti-racism conferences are held by the United Nations regularly. This article will play an essential role in enabling me to better understand the global approach to racism and the guidelines recommended to address the challenge.
Discussion On Social-Cognitive Theory Assignment Essay Help From Professional Writers
Previous theoretical models of human behavior focused either on internal factors like values, needs, beliefs, and attitudes or on external factors such as incentives, reinforcers, rewards, and punishments. Social-cognitive theory (SCT) posits that human behavior is a product of “internal personal states [and] . . . external environmental conditions” (Pinder, 2008, p. 457). According to SCT, despite a person’s mental and physical capabilities and best intentions and efforts, environmental conditions may prevent him or her from reaching a goal or achieving a desired outcome.
In light of the emergence of social cognitive models, organizational psychology professionals who rely on behaviorist-based solutions may discover they are at a distinct disadvantage in 21st-century organizational settings. With an increasingly diverse workforce, a sound understanding of the complexities of human behavior is required. Human actions cannot be reduced to “simple [and] mechanistic” notions associated with behaviorism (Pinder, 2008, p. 459). Instead, as Bandura (1991) points out, “people possess self-reflective and self-reactive capabilities” which allow them to mediate, regulate, and ultimately benefit from opportunities the environment offers (in Pinder, 2008, p. 455).
With these thoughts in mind:
Post by Day 3 a brief summary of the five capabilities posited by social-cognitive theory (SCT). Then explain how you might use SCT to help organizations develop strategies for the professional development of its employees. Provide two examples to illustrate your point. Support your response with references to the Learning Resources and current literature.

Self-Efficacy Theory And Self-Regulation Theory common app essay help: common app essay help
How do you judge your ability to accomplish a goal? The concept of self-efficacy refers to beliefs you possess regarding your own capabilities to complete a task successfully. For example, some artists might rate themselves as having a high self-efficacy for painting, but having a low self-efficacy for writing. In most instances, before initiating actions and engaging in behaviors leading to goal attainment, individuals assess the amount of time and effort they are willing to spend in its pursuit. Because human beings tend to choose the road of least resistance, especially when they anticipate difficulties along the way, self-efficacy theory helps them assess their capabilities to reach personal and professional goals successfully.
By practicing principles posited by self-regulation theory, human beings are able to monitor and adjust their behaviors in order to reach personal and professional goals. The ability to choose behaviors likely to lead to goal attainment and reject behaviors likely to lead to goal failure provides individuals with effective self-management skills.
With these thoughts in mind:
Post by Day 4 a brief explanation of how self-efficacy theory (personal goal setting) contributes to self-regulation theory. Then select one theory (self-efficacy or self-regulation) and explain how that theory might be applied to complete your graduate degree. Be specific and provide examples.

The Vargas family arrives for the 4th session at separate times. You have been chatting with Elizabeth and Heidi about Frank’s recent school suspension when Bob and Frank enter. They are having an animated conversation, laughing hysterically, and Heidi comments on how Frank is wearing socks, not the rain boots he left the house in. Bob and Frank proceed to share the story about how Frank’s top scoop of ice cream just fell into his boot when Elizabeth interrupts. She questions Bob and appears surprised to learn that instead of going to work with Bob who had agreed to “put him to work” as a consequence of his suspension, the two of them had spent the day having fun. Frank talks about his new bike and had begun a story about the movie they saw when he looks at his dad and instantly stops talking. You notice Bob’s stern look when Frank apologizes stating, “I forgot I’m not supposed to tell.”
The tense silence is broken by Heidi who begins to tell her parents that she got another gold star on her spelling test, the teacher picked her to be the helper, she scored two soccer goals at recess, and made three new friends. You notice that Frank has squeezed into the same chair next to Bob; Heidi scoots closer to her mother on the couch. You note Elizabeth’s distress and invite Bob to comment. Bob minimizes the incident that resulted in Frank’s suspension and accuses Elizabeth of “overreacting.” Frank agrees that “Mom always gets mad” and begins recounting the “funny” incident that was, according to him and Bob, “no big deal.”

qualitative research questions in assigned journal articles a level english language essay help
As you learned in previous weeks, alignment means that a research study possesses clear and logical connections among all of its various components. In addition to considering alignment, qualitative researchers must also consider the ethical implications of their design choice, including, for example, what their choice means for participant recruitment, procedures, and privacy.
For this Discussion, you will evaluate qualitative research questions in assigned journal articles in your discipline and consider the alignment of theory, problem, purpose, research questions, and design. You will also identify the type of qualitative research design the authors used and explain how it was implemented.
Post a critique of the research study in which you:
· Evaluate the research questions using the Research Questions and Hypotheses Checklist as a guide
· Identify the type of qualitative research approach used and explain how the researchers implemented the design
· Analyze alignment among the theoretical or conceptual framework, problem, purpose, research questions, and design
Be sure to support your Main Issue Post and Response Post with reference to the week’s Learning Resources and other scholarly evidence in APA Style.

Mixed Methods Research Designs assessment essay help cheap: essay help cheapYou may be familiar with the many design ideas for fuel-efficient cars and their gas-saving engines. Some designs include cars that run on alternatives to traditional gasoline, such as biofuels, hydrogen, or electrical charge. However, the design with the greatest initial success has been the hybrid engine. As you may know, these engines use some gasoline and also use batteries that gain a charge from the energy produced by the car’s brakes.
Like a hybrid car, a mixed methods research design combines different means to produce the best end result for its purpose. This does not, however, mean that a mixed methods research design is always superior to a qualitative or quantitative research design alone. Rather, the best approach to study a particular topic must be considered within the context of the various research components discussed so far, such as the theoretical framework, problem, purpose, and research questions.
This week’s readings provide an overview of various types of mixed methods research designs. As with previous discussions on design, the selection of the most appropriate mixed design is guided by the study’s purpose and research questions and/or hypotheses. The choice of design links the research questions and/or hypotheses to the data that will be collected achieving alignment among research components.
In this Discussion, you will explore the basics of mixed methods research designs, calling upon your growing understanding of both quantitative and qualitative research.
With these thoughts in mind:
By Day 4
Post your response to the question, “To what extent is mixed methods research simply taking a quantitative design and a qualitative design and putting them together?” Next, explain the types of research questions best served by mixed methods research. Then, explain one strength and one limitation of mixed methods research. Finally, provide a rationale for or against the utility of mixed methods research in your discipline.
Be sure to support your Main Issue Post and Response Post with reference to the week’s Learning Resources and other scholarly evidence in APA Style.

critical thinking of Opposites attract article college essay help free
In this discussion, you are going to be asked to do a bit of critical thinking. Have you ever heard this expression? “Opposites attract.” What about this one? “ Birds of a feather flock together.” Both of these say something about what attracts one person to another and both are commonly used expressions. The problem is they are opposites.
Suppose we wanted to know whether people tend to marry those who have interests and values that are different from their own (opposites) or whether they tend to marry those with similar interests and values (birds of a feather). How might we find out? As you create your discussion post, consider the following:
Propose a simple research project that would allow you to answer the question: Which of the two statements in quotation marks above applies best to selection of marriage partners in the United States? Choose one of the research method that you think would be the most useful and practical for exploring this question. Explain why this method would be appropriate. Describe in some detail the steps that you would take in setting up and carrying out this research.

how much of intelligence is a product of nature summary and response essay help
Intelligence tests were designed based on the belief that there are measurable differences in ability between individuals that can help to predict future performance. There has been a long-term debate on what the word intelligence really means and a more heated debate on how much of intelligence is a product of nature (genetics) and how much is contributed by nurture (environment). In this discussion, we will explore the arguments for each of those influences.
Over the last hundred years there has been a great deal of discussion and research that has tried to determine the relative influence of nature and of nurture on intelligence. The consensus today is that both make a strong contribution. Find one piece of evidence showing that nature (genetics) makes a contribution and one showing the influence of nurture (environment). Describe each of these pieces of evidence and explain why it supports the influence of either nature or nurture, as appropriate. What is the practical importance of understanding that intelligence is influenced by both factors?

critical analysis of a potential resolution to problem essay help site:edu: essay help site:eduApplication: Proposed Resolution
The last component of the Capstone Project involves the identification and critical analysis of a potential resolution to the identified problem. In this Application Assignment you will critically analyze one of the potential resolutions you proposed in Week 8. What would be the challenges and barriers to implementing the resolution?
To prepare:
· Review the “Problem Solving Template” (located in the Resources area on the left navigation bar), paying particular attention to the section on analyzing the solution.
· Review the list of potential resolutions generated in Week 8 and identify the resolution you deem most likely to address the identified problem.
· Review the feedback provided in the Week 8 Discussion.
· Consider the following questions for the resolution you have selected:
·
o Is the resolution realistic?
o What are the consequences of the resolution, and who would be impacted?
o What would be the challenges and barriers to implementing the resolution?
Week 8
After reviewing the problem-solving template, I understood that the first analysis explains about the co-morbidity issue, which involves two or more diseases happening at the same duration or recurring on one individual. However, this issue develops in a person because of the abusive consumption of drugs, which lead to changes in brain noticeably. Additionally, these substances influence a person’s normal arrangement of desires and want to make distinct priorities connected with acquiring and utilizing substances. Other effects associated with co-morbidity addicted drug users include distress and emotional diseases.
In many cases, the co-morbidity issues are caused by severe factors which result in substance misuse and brain-related disorders which develop from intersecting agents like hereditary and epigenesist state of being weak. Moreover, the analysis indicates that other studies illustrate that the issue of co-morbidity entangles what people are susceptible to establish drug misuse and brain relates sickness, and sometime, be at the chance of getting another different illness (National Institute on Drug Abuse, 2018)
Additionally, the potential resolution to this problem involves the use of prevention and intervention methods. , for example, the use of some critical treatments to control anxiety in a patient The treatment programs like assertive community have worked well for patients who accept to adhere to doctors prescriptions during the onset of the disease to lower its percentage. However, the drugs used to solve co-morbidity disease are effective and cost-effective, meaning they cure the disorder, and they do not require a lot of capital for patients to buy them. Nevertheless, the disadvantage associated with this problem is that not all substances which have been used to all patients have worked effectively. Also, when some of the drugs are used, they may lead to other destructive conditions to patient health.
On the other hand, the second critical analysis that environmental destruction is one among the factors which result in substance misuse and mental problems. The study explains more about substance misuse and psychological problems which develop on people because of the environment that shapes their ways of living. Environment happens to be the leading cause of these problems according to analysis two. Also, other factors like distress and trauma can result in the same issue, hence making youngster develop this problem in the future. The act of observing and copying what other individuals perform can also force some people to copy the action of addicted people hence, putting them on the same actions which can later impact their braining functionality (Sherri, 2019).
Moreover, brain illnesses are also connected to causing this problem because they may contribute to memory interruptions and sensitivity. Another cause of this drug addiction and mental illness issue is the hereditary factor, whereby many studies show that 50 percent of addiction issues are due to the hereditary influences. The last cause involves epigenetic factor, which includes gene translation actions that later result in alteration of how human cells behave after genetic information is communicated. These alterations, in most cases, alter the functionality of the brain and cause this problem.
Generally, the potential resolutions to these problems involve some integrated techniques. For example, the treatment of brain illnesses may include the use of some medications, counseling programs, the introduction of new lifestyles, and help from peers. On the other end, solving the problem of drug abuse may include approaches like detoxification, control of withdrawal signs, treatment of some behaviors, and assistance from professionals to maintain client health. These resolutions are advantageous to many people because they are effective and cost-effective. The resolutions are also linked to challenges like the development of other body complications to people who use them simultaneously, and some are not effective to all individuals (Joanna, at el., 2019). Relapses are other disadvantages of the drugs used to cure these disorders, although they occur during the recovery process.
Additionally, the practice of exercising continuously or doing changing eating styles can be a great technique in solving these problems because it does not need capital and can change the mood of a patient without the use of any medication. Advice from other support teams can educate an individual on how to recover from such problems, and maintain a healthy life (Joanna, at el., 2019).
In summary, both drug abuse and mental disorders have almost similar causes and effects on people, and their treatment techniques are also similar. People should understand the leading causes and symptoms of these problems, and learn how to use the early invention to prevent them before onset.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR PAPER:
“Paper II is intended to help you write an introduction to an empirical research study akin to the literature review you see in published research articles. That is, you will write an introduction to a potential experiment of your choice related to the aging workforce based on prior research in the field. Your goal here will be review and summarize relevant literature in the form of a research paper introduction or short literature review. In Paper II, though, you will use prior research to help justify your study hypotheses if you had to write a research paper. You will need five references minimum for Paper II, three of which must come from peer-reviews, empirical journals. We will be posting some sample empirical papers that you might choose to use as one or two of your peer reviewed references, but you are not required to do so. It all depends on your choice of topic or area of studies. For Paper II, I recommend that you start your literature review broadly, hinting at your own study design toward the end of your opening paragraph. Subsequent paragraphs will talk about research involving Aging and the Workforce or related topics. Start with the basics, defining Aging, aging workforce for you reader and then summarizing research in the area that you decided to explore furthered. Your paper should end with a potential hypothesis. This hypothesis will depend on the specific body of literature you have decided to review. You will receive feedback on how you formulated the hypothesis, but you will not be penalized if in our judgement it is not correct.”
