Assignment on learner development, learning differences, and application of content personal essay help: personal essay helpReflective Journal: Learner Development, Learning Differences, and Application of Content
An important part of being an educator is reflection. Reflection is a learning process through which you use your experiences and knowledge to guide you in the future. Each week you will have the opportunity to use your journal to reflect on the content you have learned in this course and throughout your degree program. Specifically, you will reflect on the connections you see between each case study and two to three topics from the Program Comprehensive Exam.
This week we will be focusing on learner development, learning differences, and application of content. As you learned from this week’s readings, understanding your students is critical when you are trying to meet their developmental and academic needs. In order to do this, you must differentiate your instruction. To learn more about differentiated instruction, please read the article Differentiating instruction in the preschool classroom: Bridging emergent literacy instruction and developmentally appropriate practice.
Take a few minutes to think about how the case study addresses these topics. The questions below may spark some ideas regarding learner development, learning differences, and application of content. You do not need to address all the questions; instead, write down your thoughts as they unfold.
Reflect on the following in your journal:

What do you remember about how your own teachers differentiated instruction in order to meet the needs of all the children in your childhood classroom(s)?

How was this similar or different to what Mrs. Ashland did in the case study to meet the needs of Johnny, Jack, Maya, Caleb, Kayla, and Jane?

What are some strategies that Mrs. Ashland used to meet the cognitive, social and emotional, language, physical, and moral development of her students?

Do you plan to use any of the strategies that your teachers or Mrs. Ashland used?  Explain your thinking using justification, supporting details, and critical thinking.

Carefully review the Grading Rubric for the criteria that will be used to evaluate your journal entries.

Assignment on common core or early learning standards lesson plan essay helpCommon Core or Early Learning Standards Lesson Plan
Throughout Week Two you have had the opportunity to plan instruction for the students in Mrs. Ashland’s class. Now you will have the chance to use what you have learned about planning instruction from the discussion forums and apply it to a new situation.
As discussed in Chapter 3 of our text, most states are using the Common Core State Standards Initiative or Early Learning Standards to guide their teaching. Starting on page 5 of Chapter 3 of the text, the author clearly outlines considerations that need to be made when planning curriculum for infants/toddlers, preschoolers, and primary-grade students. Using these considerations and either the Common Core Standards or the Early Learning Standards for your state, choose one standard. You will need to develop a lesson for teaching this standard to infants/toddlers, preschoolers, and primary- grade children. It is required that you use the Lesson plan template to complete this portion of your assignment.  It is suggested that you utilize the Early Childhood and Child Development: Lesson Plan Handbook as a guide for how to more effectively plan this lesson.
Your lesson plan should include:

A title page.

An introductory paragraph that describes the physical environment of the classroom where the lesson will be taught.

All aspects of the lesson, using the lesson plan template provided. In addition to the completion of the template, please address the specific requirements listed below:

Identify which Common Core Standard or Early Learning Standard you will address and which National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) standard is being covered (in the Standards section of the template).
Within the differentiation section, clearly differentiate how you will modify the lesson for infants/toddlers, preschoolers, and primary-grade.

A closing paragraph, following the completed template, that discusses which of the considerations mentioned in the text for planning curriculum for infants/toddlers, preschoolers, and primary-grade students you took into account when developing this lesson.

This assignment should be submitted as a two- to three-page document, not including the title and reference page. Make sure to include at least one scholarly source in addition to the course text to support your ideas; use APA formatting.

Carefully review the Grading Rubric for the criteria that will be used to evaluate your assignment.

Reflective Journal: Leadership, Professional Knowledge and Ethical Practice
An important part of being an educator is reflection. Reflection is a learning process through which you use your experiences and knowledge to guide you in the future. Each week you will have the opportunity to use your journal to reflect on the content you have learned in this course and throughout your degree program. Specifically, you will reflect on the connections you see between each case study and two to three topics from the Program Comprehensive Exam.
This week we will be focusing on leadership, professional knowledge and ethical practice. There are many elements in education that receive attention due to the controversies surrounding them (kindergarten readiness, play in preschool, curriculum approaches, technology in education, and universal pre-k). As a reflective practitioner, it is important to consider both sides and then form your beliefs using your knowledge and experiences.
Take a few minutes to think about how the case study addresses these topics. The questions below may spark some ideas regarding leadership, professional knowledge and ethical practice. You do not need to address all the questions; instead, write down your thoughts as they unfold.
Reflect on the following in your journal:

What is one prevalent issue in early childhood education today? Explain both sides of the debate regarding this issue.

What connections do you see between leadership, ethical practices, and professional knowledge regarding this debate?

How do you envision this issue impacting your future work with children?

Reflecting on the content presented in the case study, what are some areas where Mrs. Ashland faces adversity and must overcome challenges to meet the needs of her students and families? If you were facing similar challenges, how might you plan and proceed? Explain your thinking using justification, supporting details and critical thinking.

Carefully review the Grading Rubric for the criteria that will be used to evaluate your journal entries.

Assignment on education portfolio college admissions essay helpEducational Professional Portfolio
Throughout this course you have had the opportunity to observe Mrs. Ashland, her students, their parents, Mrs. Ford, and Park Lane Early Childhood Education Center. With your degree in reach, it will soon be your turn to become the next Mrs. Ashland or Mrs. Ford. To propel you on your journey, you will be creating an ePortfolio using Google Sites. This will showcase who you are as an Educational Professional when you go to a job interview. Remember that portfolios grow as you do, so you will be able to continue to add to and revise your portfolio even after this course is over. This assignment is a culmination of the learning gained throughout this course. The case study about Mrs. Ashland serves as a reflection of best practices in key early childhood areas for you to utilize as an example.
You will need to use Google Sites to create your ePortfolio. This is an actual working website that you can enable for others to view. You will find information about how to access this site and directions for creating your ePortfolio here.
Your portfolio will need to contain the following requirements:

Portfolio Table of Contents.

Disposition Statement: Review the Week Five, Discussion One feedback. Create your philosophy of the necessary qualities of an early childhood educator. This philosophy should be one page long and reflect your personal beliefs.
Plan Professional Development: Professional development plays an important role in the life of an educator. Research different methods of continuing professional development. Develop three statements of commitment as to the types of professional development you plan to engage in over the next year. At least one of your resources for professional development should be online. For each commitment, include a rationale as to why you chose this particular type of professional development and how it will help you to continue to grow as an early childhood educator. This section should be one page in length.
Rationale: In this section you will need to look at each component of your portfolio. In three to four sentences, reflect as to how these components demonstrate mastery of one or more of the Program Comprehensive Exam Main Topics. Use your Reflective Journal Template while developing your rationale.
Reference Page: Using your textbook and at least five outside scholarly sources helps to strengthen your beliefs as an educational professional.

Your final project, including the 12 required components, should be submitted as a document that contains the hyperlink to your ePortfolio.
