Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) has been the primary method of advocating for coverage of autism therapies in the past (ABA). Even if these treatments aren’t necessary or even detrimental, focusing only on behavioral therapies may restrict access to scientific proof and developing models that aim to improve interpersonal connections, communication skills, and the acquisition of life skills that matter. It’s called First-hand Reflections on Behavioral Intervention for Autism Spectrum Disorders, and we have put up a whitepaper on this issue.

Today’s health care ecosystem relies heavily on insurance coverage to determine the access and reliability of a given treatment. It’s a mixed bag in the realm of autism services regarding insurance coverage options. 1. Thoreau stated the best government is the one that governs the least. It clearly explains that no human depositories can be safely trusted with the power of legislation upon the general interest of the society. The government should have as little as possible with the overall business and operations of the public. It undertakes the practice as its rightful role, it’s impossible to say that it shall not proceed. Its domestic action should be confined to the administration of justice for the protection of the natural equal rights of the citizens and the preservation of social order. I believe Thoreau was right because once the government aligns itself with the public and imposes regulations to be followed; it will not have a clear boundary as to what should be left out. It will therefore tamper with private interests, and sow seeds of corruption which will in turn lead to distrust and disloyalty amongst citizens.

2. In as much as unethical laws exist, we should not be contented to follow them but rather we should amend them to fit the needs of the society. Thoreau states that mankind’s history is linked with the abuse of power that outweighs its beneficial usage to society and legislation has been the primary root of evil. It accounts for ethical, and evils that have afflicted man since the adage. The laws presented are a form of slavery as citizens are supposed to follow without questions or retaliation. Therefore, as responsible citizens, we should amend unethical laws so that the succeeding generation may not bear the consequences of bad legislation.

Introduction and Early Life

Clara Harlowe Barton was born on December 25th, 1821 and died in 1912. Her place of birth is Massachusetts in the United States. Clara Barton was born in a nuclear family by Sarah Burton, her mother and Captain Stephen Barton, her father. Clara’s father played a major role in her interest in humanitarian work because he was in the local military and a patriotic politician in their community. Clara Barton attended school from a young age, and she excelled in reading and writing. Although she was a good student, Clara’s main passion since she was a young girl was helping others. According to Biography (2021), she took care of her brother for nearly two years after he suffered a severe injury. Clara Barton’s love for nursing began at a young age, and she was always a helpful person whose satisfaction was found in helping others. Clara Barton became a teacher at a young age, and after working there for a few years, she developed a free school in New Jersey and was the headmistress. Clara left the school and began work in the United States government as a patent clerk. She believed in equality among men and women, and during her work as a patent clerk, she received equal pay as her fellow male colleagues. Clara started using her nursing skills during the American civil war that began in 1861. She nursed the wounded American soldiers back to health, and she was given the nickname ‘Angel of the Battlefield.’

Significant Contribution

After her actions on various battlefields during the American Civil War, Clara Burton was wealthy but exhausted and depressed. She travelled to Europe in 1868 to rest when she discovered the International Red Cross (Strickler, 2018). The red cross did a similar work that Clara did during the American Civil War but at a much greater scale. She developed a passion for such an organization and returned to the United States to start a similar organization in America that can be under the international Red Cross. The America Red Cross was a significant contribution of Clara Barton to the country’s humanitarian sector. Her call for the development of the American Red Cross was not a smooth ride because she faced strong resistance from several members of Congress in the country. However, after ten years of lobbying for the united Stated approval, in 1882, Clara Barton won (Hodge, 1981). She was able to be the founder and first President of the American Red Cross. Her successful development of the American Red Cross occurred when she was sixty years, and she led the organization for almost twenty-three years. The American Red Cross was a social work organization that aided war and disaster victims in different parts of the country. During her reign in the American Red Cross, Clara Barton saw that the country had many homeless people during times of war and peace. Since the organization only dealt with war victims, she made sure help was also provided to the homeless during times of peace. Many homeless people benefited from her working for the American Red Cross, and she saved the lives of many during times of war and times of peace in the country. The American Red Cross did not only focus on the homeless during times of war but also ensured they were taken care of during times of peace. Clara Burton was not discriminative, and her passion for helping was not selective because she helped all the needy that she came across.

Setting of Clara Barton`s Work

The setting in that Clara Burton did most of her work was various hospitals and battlefields. The American Red Cross had a group of nurses who helped Clara achieve her goal of saving many soldiers’ lives during times of war. Most of her setting was on battlefields and army camps, where she and other nurses would take care of the wounded during the war. The American Red Cross also helped people during natural disasters. When they responded to natural disasters, the organization often set up camps where they would provide food for the hungry and other equipment like blankets to those left homeless by the disaster. The other setting where the American Red Cross’s work took place is in hospitals, where the nurses would go and help the hospital nurses in case of a major disaster. During the Spanish- American war, Clara Burton and other nurses were deployed to Cuba to help the American troops. Their offer was rejected, and they offered their services to Cuban forces. Clara burton was about restoring health no matter who she gave it to, and this proves that her humanitarian work was pure. After the Army forces saw the success of their work during the Spanish-American War, they called her and her nurses back and sought their help. According to Strickler (2018), the United States Medical Department created permanent reserve corps for trained women nurses on the battlefield. In 1901, Clara Burton’s work led to the establishment of the Army Nurse Corps, which enabled nurses’ easy access to battlefields to perform their duties.

Clara Burton`s Legacy and Relevance

The American Red Cross is one of the essential organizations in the country today. The American Red Cross has helped save many people’s lives during disasters or any outbreaks of diseases. Many people in the country and worldwide have received aid such as food and clothing from the American Red Cross organization. The American Red Cross has training services that offer first Aid Training to those interested in helping others and saving lives. The American Red Cross organization is still operational in the United States and other areas worldwide. The organization has become a success since it was created, and over one hundred years later, it continues to offer relief to many in need. Several other organizations similar to the American Red Cross have been formed. Such organizations help because humanitarian work needs all the support it can get to achieve its goals. One of the organizations is Doctors Without Borders, which helps provide medical care for those in need. The Doctors without Borders organization is not affiliated with any political organization or government, making their services more flexible (Vashovsky, 2018). Most of the doctors in the Doctors without Borders organization are volunteers who, like Clara Burton, have an intense passion for humanitarian work.

Conclusion

Clara Barton was an American citizen born in North Oxford, Massachusetts. Clara had a passion for helping people, and she started her humanitarian work during the American Civil War in 1861. She came into contact with the work of the International Red Cross and started a rally for the development of the American Red Cross. After facing challenges, she founded the American Red Cross and became the first organization’s first president. Clara Burton ensured the homeless during war and peace times were taken care of in terms of food, shelter and clothing. The American Red Cross has saved many people’s lives during disasters and disease outbreaks. Other organizations similar to the United States have been developed, and they are also doing great humanitarian work. Clara Burton accomplished a lot during times when women were not considered equal people in society. She worked hard to accomplish her goal of helping people, and military soldiers on battlefields saw and appreciated her work. Humanitarian work is important and Clara Burton, through the American Red Cross, helped many people to find a platform for their humanitarian work.
